i would guess, due to it being located in the curve of the river, it prevents the railroad from being washed out.

Too much rain in the mountains makes great waterfalls but, is devastating to railroads that run along the banks of the river.

I saw the Creeper a couple of times after moving to this area in 1976.

A truly neat city, especially downtown.

Anywhere I can sit outside, eat good "Q", wash it down with a beer and get BJ stitched up from her latest bike accident, is a good lace to be in the Summertime.

If you live in Tri-Cities area of Tennessee or SW Virginia and want to ride long distances I would suggest I-81.

If you want a short bike ride with breath taking scenery drive up to Coeburn, Va.
