Doug Hale2333 viewsOn 6 June, 1944 Doug Hale stood up. He stood up when he drove his landing craft ashore, delivering young men who will never grow old.

He stated he bent over to release the "Dogs" that held the ramp and missed a bullet that struck right behind him

He hasn't quit, still maintains his half of Guest River Railtrail at Coeburn, Va.

DOUG HALE, STAND UP! Now Doug take a bow........and thanks Doug.

Jeremiah 2214 viewsJeremiah was a Bullfrog, was a good friend of mine, never spoke a single word, but he had some mighty fine wine.....

Got to figure out who wrote that stupid song so I can give him credit, whether he wants it or not.

Don't really know about the wine but, you can visit Jeremiah at Evins Mill.

Rock Island Panther_1200x900.jpg
Panther?2410 viewsCould this possibly be a Rock Island State Park Panther?

Since being ordained a Tennessee citizen, way back in 1976 I have heard the stories about panthers that lurk in the mountains.

This was sighted right out our back door when we checked in at the park.

Should I have listened to Lou and not risked our life and limb by checking in after dark in a place where waterfalls emerge from cliffs, but have no visible river?

To find out, check under Planes, Trains and Odd things, Critters answer no. 2

Wood Snake?2316 viewsNo such thing as a Wood Snake? Maybe a Copper Head, quiet common around here?? So, don't zoom in or enlarge the photo, make a guess what type snake this is.

Is too a Wood Snake.......... Zoom in and see. What the hay, I thought it was a snake and I was there with it, just below Lower Clear Branch Falls. Started to whack it with the Roaming Knob buuuut, nobody was looking so i just kind of eased on out.

Should have stopped right there, but this was too good to keep to myself.

Big and Little2194 viewsBig Jim is on the starboard and Little Jim on port.
(for Sandcrabs port and left have four letters)

Big Jim is my living history lesson for an area called Bumpass Cove. He can tell you waterfalls can be dangerous. Broke his back as a child falling from one, living up Patty Creek.

They are in pictured in California Fields, TN. Where there are more bears than folks. That's
because the Forest Service owns that area now.
